In Catcher in the Rye what does Holden mean by "experienced"?

My teacher insisted it meant sex but i thought Holden was a virgin. i thought Holden was refering to how smart he thought he was since he could spot all the "phonies" and he didn't trust anyone or see the good in anyone.
