Why are people so shallow about everything?

You need to find better friends. There are plenty of people with wisdom and depth, but you'll find them in unexpected places. Try looking outside your usual group: different ages, cultures, backgrounds. Many times the people who struggle the most build the most character. Volunteering to work with people with challenges may help put you in touch with like-minded individuals. Don't compromise your values, and try not to be judgmental of those who may not be fortunate enough to have your insight or background.
